Hair Talk: Concotious Wanna-Be-Kinky

The braids are innn… Again.

These are basic box braids with curly tips (because you all know I love curls… and braids hehe) but I thought they really resembled the kinky twists I always do but since they’re not, I decided this style deserved a post of it’s own. Besides this reason, I have 3 different colors of extensions; black, blue and purple. Concoction of colors, I know, but allow me to explain.

I intended to use only black and purple but we ran out of purple extensions so this happened. I LOVE IT. The purple highlights really come out here. I wish there were more daring colors of attachment out there for us color-loving folks. Honestly.
I was skeptical about the length because it was neither short nor long and that really bothered me BUT it’s grown on me a lot. I used 4 Packets of X-pression extensions which is a ridiculous amount considering it’s not long but it doesn’t feel heavy AT ALL.

Maintenance is the same old Sulfur 8 Braid sheen spray and my trusty ol’ hairnet or satin scarf. Oh, and keeping it FAR away from water.

What do you think? How far would you go with mixing extensions?

  1. These look so nice. I love, love, love, loveeeeee braids. However, I don't think my hair can even handle them. I can have my braids braided very loosely and take care of it gently and still have my edges falling out. Sigh, I've given up on them for a while.

  2. Yup, protecting those edges are always an issue and I understand. Especially when they're braided in too tight. That's why I always transition between corn rows (Ghana weaving),and single braids for protective hairstyles to give them a break 🙂

    Thank you! 🙂

    xx
