Fallen Leaves

When the weather just goes from sunshine and roses to dead cold. My only reaction is “What’s all this, Jackie?” O_o

Of course I couldn’t let that kill my vibe so since I’ve been experimenting with layering lately, I decided to bring out this triangle-cut ankara skirt. I’ve had it for a while and I love, love the unique cutting but it was a challenge finding the right way to wear it… Till now. What do you think? Look closely, doesn’t the print remind you of water lilies? Or do you see butterflies? From afar, they look like leaves as well. I never really paid attention till now, it’s really fascinating.
Have a great week and stay warm, loves!

Ombré

Happy new month, everyone! November has finally arrived! I’m grateful for being able to see these past 10 months. It’s been a roller coaster of ups and downs but it’s been well worth it!

I’m so glad it’s the weekend. This week has been by far one of my most hectic so far in the semester, it was crazyy but I made it through. I’m just going to CHILL this weekend… for the most part. I found that taking pictures by myself really relaxes me along with painting my nails (which I haven’t done in a while), arranging my room and listening to some very soothing music. I’ve been loving Agnes Obel’s “Aventine” album like crazy. I’ve have it on replay non-stop. Especially “Dorian“. It just soothes my soul. So tell me, how do you guys de-stress?

On the outfit, I decided to add a twist on this ombré maxi dress and wore this ankara blouse with it. They’re both dramatic but their drama complement each other and I decided to stick with plums and purples tones (surprise). Hope you all have a great weekend!

PS, Miss LAJA was featured on Intice and I’m so happy to share it with you all. I’m so excited and beyond grateful! Cheers to more growth! Peep my feature here.

Layered

You might think I’m wearing a dress but it’s actually an ankara top worn over a top (I wore here) that’s worn over a dress (I also wore here). Talk about layering, isn’t that what Fall is about? It’s not always buying new things. Sometimes you need to get creative and work with what you have.

Speaking of Fall, it’s unbelievable how beautiful everywhere is now. I’ve never experienced Fall like this; the trees are orange, purple, red… All my favorite colors and it’s an absolute joy walking around because everything is SO pretty! I wish we could just have this and skip the winter part to spring. Yes?

I know there have been a lot of outfit posts lately and I’m not complaining (hopefully you guys aren’t either), haha. I can’t write when I’m stressed out so when things calm down, there’ll be plenty more writing but till then, what do you guys want to see more of? What are you favorite parts on this site? I’d love to know so I can give it to you more and make my little space on the world wide web more “homey” and appealing. So, tell me in the comments! I’m taking notes and your comments really do make my day. Don’t be shy or lazy, I won’t bite. Promise 😀

Triangle

Yay for crop tops even when the temperature’s dropping each day!

Nothing much to say but success to everyone taking midterms now! Oh and the winners for my giveaway have been announced here so congratulations! Thank you so much to everyone who entered! *Hugs*

Jagged Edges

Everything about this look screams SASS and I’m loving it; high bun, sassy ankara jacket, booties of life, sunglasses. Ughh, I love seeing and embracing the edgy side in ankara fashion and myself… It doesn’t happen very often…

It’s funny how the weather’s cooling off but I seem to find myself buying more crop tops… How do you explain that? In my defense, it was a warm day.

Anyways, I tried the rolling-up-your-trousers thing and I really like how it turned out. I must admit, I always felt I looked awkward in three quarter trousers but apparently not. Plus, I was motivated by these bad boys that just flew in. These booties are soo unique and edgy I can’t even deal. It was lurve at first sight. Spontaneous, but still love all the same.

The Ankara Robe

This lovely ankara robe was given as a gift from my close friend’s mum and best believe it was meant to be a sleeping robe but… It was too beau-riful to be confined to the four corners of my room so I pulled this together.

It was one of the more chilly days so it worked out nicely. Speaking of chilly days, it’s been bipolar lately causing my outfits to be bipolar. So expect a few warm weather outfits here and there on here… Haha, see what I did, there?

Any-hoo, Demetisk NewYork released his 2014 Fall collection (that looks SO yummm-ayyy) with several ankara robes, so I’m happy to say my instincts are well on their way. Woop woop!

A Million Ways

Ahh, one of those days when everything just works out perfectly; hair [check], outfit [check], mood [check], weather [check]… Now tell me, what more can I ask for?

Surely you remember her brother, right? Believe me when I say I had this outfit planned the very moment I tried this ankara croptop for the first time… And that was over 2 months ago. You know when you just see an item, and you’ve basically planned one million ways to wear it before you actually wear it? Exactly!
I present to you the first way, in a million…
This will definitely not be the last time you’ll be seeing this piece… Yes, even with the funky winter coming. Now, excuse me as I continue to feel fly with myself…

That’s A Wrap

Debuting this lovely ankara jacket that I’ve had for a while but hadn’t figured out the best way to match it up. The day finally came and I kept it simple with the classic black and gold combo.

The weather had been really bipolar so I was glad it was warm that day. Cold seems to be winning *sad face*
Finally you can now see that my braids are indeed blue not black… Too bad I’ll have to take them out cause if you can’t already tell, the edges have become rebellious. I had to wrap them FROM the gods…
