Earth To LAJA I’ll just be honest with myself and admit that I’m a sucker for flared skirts and off should tops (substitute turtle necks for colder weather) This is a casual outfit that’s comfy yet chic. I found myself gravitating towards it and I thought “Not again.” This one is from my fashion line, LAJA. The amount of flared skirts prints and plain alike is quite embarrassing but in my defense, flares are very flattering on most body shapes. It’s versatile, you can wear flared-on-flared (my personal favorite as you can tell) or tight-on-flared so it’s a win-win. I plan on shooting more casual outfits for different occasions so keep your eyes peeled. In other news, it’s crunch time for me. I’m a co-organizer for my school’s African cultural showcase and the show’s exactly a week from today so next week’s going to be very interesting. I’m quite excited. You know I love backstage chaos, hahaha! Eternity & A Day I have this sense of urgency about life. I always feel I can do more, do better, reach higher. At the stage (and age) I’m in, I believe so strongly it’s the best time to try out new things, go out of my comfort zone, make mistakes because honestly, things only get more complicated as time goes on. This mindset definitely has it perks and downfall. One being you actually get to do really cool things that aren’t as common or you wouldn’t have done had you waited for “the right time”. There’s no such thing. On the other end, you tend to put wayyy too much pressure on yourself as you easily tend to forget that thing we call time and patience. I’m guilty, guilty, guilty all the way. I’m in such a position right now where I have to take critical decisions as to what direction I want to go in with Miss LAJA and my fashion career. The decision is a major game changer and will require quite some transition in my life. On the other end, it will lead me closer to achieving my dreams, goals and aspirations. I’ve read so much articles my brain is fried and I’ve spoken to may people. Then I realized I’m running because ultimately it’s up to me to make that decision. I know I always speak in riddles but I promise you, it’ll be very clear as to what the hell I’m talking about. It’s nothing bad, far from it. It’s a blessing and the potential opportunities scare me so much it’s hard to concentrate or think or sleep. All I ask is that you stay excited and you pray for me. Eternity & A Day by Paul Haslinger fills me with so much hope. I almost feel infinite when listening to it. I imagine myself at the highest peak of a mountain amongst the clouds in awe of the view. Sublime. There’s so much beauty and love the world has to offer and while it can be beautifully overwhelming, it’s so important to take things one step at a time, one day at a time because it’s there. BAD. I hope you’re enjoying what’s left of the weekend. I finished watching “Far From The Madding Crowd”, I started it on the plane but didn’t get to around till the end. I AM IN LOVE. I love movies, books, TV Shows and pretty much anything where the heroine (if she’s the main character) is strong and bad ass. Have you seen it? If you haven’t you neeeed to so we can discuss. I’m a sucker for medieval, Victorian inspired visual arts (explains my love for TV show Reign). Speaking of bad ass, I’m back to wearing crazy colored hair extensions. Yes, it’s that time again. 2015 was a year of neutrals and playing it safe with colours, this year I plan on going overboard hehe. That’s a promise. I’m feeling this red so much I’m contemplating being a red head the whole of 2016 (might through in some grey, who knows, who knows?) This past month and late last year, I’ve been living in black and red. I’ve just naturally gravitated towards them. My style has definitely taken an edge side. This Christmas Merry Christmas and Happy Boxing day! I went for a relative’s birthday party! Yes, she shares the same birthday as Jesus. It was a great time with food and lovely company. I’ve been visiting many family members and friends and it absolutely blows my mind that they know about Miss LAJA! Hearing the things they say encourage me so much and make me look forward to what 2016 has to offer. It’s officially a countdown! I’m going to keep this short and sweet as I just got back from a visit to my cousins’ place! I hope you enjoyed yours, what did you do? And what are you looking forward to this coming 2016? Gele Chronicles: Black and White Here’s another gele look since I haven’t done one in a while. I plan on doing a lot of the holidays as I’m in the process of coveting my mum’s wardrobe *cheese* This isn’t a gele entirely but I wanted to head piece and jewelry to be the focus of the look. Blue Lagoon I’m half asleep as I type this since I just touched down in Nigeria and my body is just confused. First thing I was greeted with was the heat and I welcomed it wholeheartedly because you know I’m not at all about that cold life. Anyways, it’s good to be home and have a change of space/location. It honestly makes a huge difference in my personality and demeanor. I feel different, even weird so to say. Maybe it has to do with the fact that I haven’t been home in the past year? It might not sound like a big deal but my personality changes with location. Not drastically though but it does change. Another possibility is I’m just plain tired and I’m just pouring out my brain. All My Favorite Things This outfit comprises of all my favorite things in one place; ankara, leather, jeans, black and red. I absolutely adore how 90s this outfit is with the skirt especially. I found that lately my style has been filled with tights and short skirts or dresses. It’s a countdown till Christmas break and I must say, I’m not feeling completely overwhelmed like I usually do this time of the semester. There is pressure let me hastily add but at this point I would have probably cried to my mum on the phone at least once and cried five times more on my own, haha! That’s one of the ways I get rid of my stress when I’ve had enough. I’m glad with how things are now. Anyways, I’m keeping this message short and sweet as I have to start studying for my exams.
